Product Marketing with Speed & Scale

Overview
Our team faced unique strategic, UX, and technical challenges. First priority was consolidating dense Defense content across a variety of product types and 2 different sectors. For the defense audience, how to present information digitally, where the status quo for most conversations are had standing around the physical product/models. Then build a system that presents that content in way that’s easy to use but also easily repeatable for new Defense sectors and products, potentially across all of Leidos’ ecosystem. Lastly, to realistically recreate the digital twins of these products was a technical feat. Balancing interaction zones across various hardware types, to simulating realistic water and VFX effects, and adapting visual systems between vertical and horizontal formats, this multi-pronged project demanded precise planning and a modular UI/UX design approach.
All to be completed within an aggressive 12-week timeline ready for the 1st showing.

Unity3D, Design Systems, and Strategy

We built a modular, shared codebase system to support both Sector’s content packages of 30+ products and a modular UI design system, which allowed our team the most efficient rapid development process.
Using the game engine Unity allowed our team to incorporate complex 3D assets, animations, text, and videos all in one system. We also faced the challenge of creating 20+ 30sec animations to highlight these product stories. So relying on our bread and butter of sharp 3D visual storytelling techniques, plus a few of our AI generation friends, we blasted out ultra high quality 3d animations that were also shared all over Leidos’ channels.
To tackle the project’s ROI goals, our team relied on our experience in emerging technology and omni-channel digital marketing to create an experience that works across trade show physical hardware first, then scales to a web application with as minimal extra effort as possible. Extending an interactive project’s uses beyond the 1st project is always a priority for our team and we have developed a proprietary methodology for doing so efficiently. Once available via the web, sales members can take this tool with them to meetings, share with customers, incorporate into corporate briefing center tours, share via social, email marketing, and ultimately, support the entire customer sales journey.
Launch Success and Future Expansion

This sales tool and trade show experience drew high praise from the Leidos team for its clarity, visual appeal, and technical execution. The system helped sales teams communicate complex topics effectively, leading to a rapidly expanding portfolio of products and additional feature requests for future sales opportunities. Several sales members were able to conduct in-person presentations to their key customers, which led to follow-up meeting requests, ultimately making our sales clients extremely excited.
This 1st project is now growing into multiple work streams, with layers of content and feature enhancements planned annually.
The interactive installations enhanced booth engagement, demonstrated Leidos as an innovative player in the Defense market, and built upon our reputation for delivering high-quality and successful immersive tech solutions for our clients.
